English Bio

Hi, my name is Dominic, but I prefer to be called Nic. I was born in November, 1985 in the former GDR and moved to Mülheim an der Ruhr, West Germany in 1989. In 2000 I left school with an extended Intermediate High School Diploma and wanted to start a job training at the vocational school „BBS I“ in Emden. However, my family decided to move to Essen that year, so I wasn’t able to start my education. One year later my father wanted me to start visiting an academic high school in Essen, just to drop out of school 2 years later. In the following years I worked in different jobs, before I started an educational training at the Heinz Nixdorf College of Information Technology in 2008. In 2010 I was offered the opportunity of an apprenticeship for professional computer science – and I aggreed. Today I’m a trained IT specialist for application development.

My focus areas are web development and email technology, but I’m also highly interested in system integration and everything that involves information technologies.

In my spare time I’m a fulltime nerd/geek (I guess that goes hand in hand with my job). I love video games, some TV shows, documentary films, horror movies and last but not least sci-fi movies and books. I’m a huge Star Wars fan, but I also love Star Trek (yes, that IS possible). Some of my favorite movies and TV shows are: Lord of the Rings, the Alien quadrilogy, AvP, Equilibrium, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Deadpool, Doctor Who, Sherlock, 5th Element and a lot more. I love hanging out on my couch with my cats while watching TV, playing on my PS4 or reading a good book.

I’m a so called metalhead. I love Rock and Metal since I was very young, although I had a few lapses of taste in the past while listening to Pop/Charts, Trance, RnB, Hip Hop and some other stuff. The bands I listen to are widespread. Some of them are: 5FDP, All That Remains, Disturbed, Epica, Amon Amarth, Sonic Syndicate, Parkway Drive, Gemini Syndrome, Volbeat, Caliban, Korpiklaani and a lot more (way too many to list. My Spotify playlist contains over 8,000 songs by over 100 bands and artists).

Speaking of being a metalhead, I love tattoos and piercings. I’m an advocate for tattoos at the workplace and I strongly condemn the negative feedback of tattooed people at work, because tattoos don’t make you a bad person. It’s a form of art and should be treated like that.

I always like to meet new people. So, if you want to get in touch with me, you can contact me on the known social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest or Instagram:
